Dual-Polarized FDD Massive MIMO: A Comprehensive Framework

چکیده

We propose a comprehensive scheme for realizing massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system with dual-polarized antennas in frequency division duplexing (FDD) mode. Dual-polarized arrays are commonly employed due to the favorable property that, principle, they can double number of channel spatial degrees freedom less-than-proportional increase array size. However, processing MIMO is demanding high dimension and lack Uplink-Downlink (UL-DL) reciprocity FDD In particular, difficulty arises common training DL precoding multi-user setup. To address this, we develop unified framework consisting three steps: (1) covariance estimation efficiently estimate UL from noisy pilots; (2) UL-DL transformation method that obtains estimated covariance, eliminating need via pilot transmission; (3) joint method, which enables BS effective channels given any protocol-specific use them interference-free beamforming data transmission. Through extensive simulations, show our applicable variety communication scenarios terms antennas, dimensions, angular scattering properties. Unlike trend literature, do xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">not make strong structural assumptions about wireless (such as sparsity), ensuring general treatment problem.

Channel Estimation for Fdd Massive Mimo Using Bayesian Estimator

Massive MIMO systems that for a cellular network, the channel from user equipment to a base station is composed of few grouped paths in space. With a very large antenna array, signals can be observed under extremely sharp regions in space. In the FDD mode, each BS sends a downlink training matrix to its served UEs which estimates the desired channel based on the downlink measurements and feeds ...

FDD Massive MIMO Channel Estimation with Arbitrary 2D-Array Geometry

This paper addresses the problem of downlink channel estimation in frequency-division duplexing (FDD) massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems. The existing methods usually exploit hidden sparsity under a discrete Fourier transform (DFT) basis to estimate the cdownlink channel. However, there are at least two shortcomings of these DFT-based methods: 1) they are applicable to unifor...

Massive MIMO Performance - TDD Versus FDD: What Do Measurements Say?

Downlink beamforming in Massive MIMO either relies on uplink pilot measurements—exploiting reciprocity and TDD operation, or on the use of a predetermined grid of beams with user equipments reporting their preferred beams, mostly in FDD operation. Massive MIMO in its originally conceived form uses the first strategy, with uplink pilots, whereas there is currently significant commercial interest...

A Graph Theoretic Approach for Training Overhead Reduction in FDD Massive MIMO Systems

The overheads associated with feedback-based channel acquisition can greatly compromise the achievable rates of FDD based massive MIMO systems. Indeed, downlink (DL) training and uplink (UL) feedback overheads scale linearly with the number of base station (BS) antennas, in sharp contrast to TDDbased massive MIMO, where a single UL pilot trains the whole BS array. In this work, we propose a gra...
